The society does not provide medical services of any kind, as its expertise lies in the areas of support, education, information and patient representation.
Kidney Society services are free for kidney failure families in Northland and Auckland, although membership is encouraged.
The Society works closely with the professionals providing medical care for people with kidney failure but is a strictly independent patient society providing support in the community.
Kidney Society Auckland: Here To Help
Kidney Society Auckland helps people find their own way towards living well with chronic kidney disease and kidney failure. Experienced staff and volunteers are at hand with ideas, advice and practical help.
Most importantly, the society brings people with kidney failure and their families together, in groups or one on one, so they can share their experience and strength and support and encourage each other.
Most people join the Kidney Society at a time when decisions need to be made about treatments: dialysis, a kidney transplant, or keeping as well as possible without these treatments.
More and more people with chronic kidney disease also join the Kidney Society. Much of the information and support, and the opportunity to meet others with kidney disease is helpful even if dialysis is still very far away - or may never happen. If this is you, click here to find out how the Kidney Society can help.
Knowing that there are thousands of people who live very well with their kidney failure and that help and information are only a phone call away, can be very reassuring.
Anyone is welcome to contact the Kidney Society for support and information, whether they have kidney failure themselves or not. Many Kidney Society services are free for people affected by kidney failure anywhere, but some services such as home visits are available only in Auckand and Northland.
The Kidney Society works closely with the professionals providing medical care for people with kidney failure but is a strictly independent patient society providing support in the community.
"The Kidney Society has been a life line for me.
Support & information are only a phone call away."
Our mission:
To promote the welfare of people with kidney failure and their families by providing ongoing support and by monitoring and influencing renal services.
