The society does not provide medical services of any kind, as its expertise lies in the areas of support, education, information and patient representation.
Kidney Society services are free for kidney failure families in Northland and Auckland, although membership is encouraged.
The Society works closely with the professionals providing medical care for people with kidney failure but is a strictly independent patient society providing support in the community.
Kidney Society Services
Kidney Society Auckland supports people with kidney failure and their families, primarily in the areas covered by the Northland, Waitemata, Auckland, Counties Manukau and Waikato renal services.
If you are looked after by any of these renal services you are invited to sign up with the Kidney Society for our range of FREE services including our bi-monthly magazine.
People with kidney failure elsewhere in New Zealand are very welcome to contact the Society for free information by phone, and may subscribe to the Kidney Society News at a cost of $20 per year for six issues.
Services are designed to help people find ways in which they can live as normal a life as possible, around their kidney failure. Experienced staff and volunteers are at hand with ideas, advice and practical help.
Most importantly, the society brings people with kidney failure and their families together, in groups or one on one, so they can share their experience and strength and support and encourage each other.

One patient says:
"It is so nice to talk to someone who will listen and can understand. I don't like to bother family or friends..."
