The society does not provide medical services of any kind, as its expertise lies in the areas of support, education, information and patient representation.
Kidney Society services are free for kidney failure families in Northland and Auckland, although membership is encouraged.
The Society works closely with the professionals providing medical care for people with kidney failure but is a strictly independent patient society providing support in the community.

Donations of good saleable items can be delivered to our centre weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm. Sorry, we are unable to collect as we do not currenty have able bodied volunteer collectors.
Please note:
We very much appreciate the generosity of people who want to give us goods for our garage sales. We could not support people with kidney failure without their help and the money we raise at our sales.
However, we must also keep our Society safe, and look after our staff and volunteers. If we let them, they tend to go well beyond the call of duty collecting and moving even very large and heavy items, sometimes endangering their own health and safety.
We cannot accept anything that might be dangerous, or could not be lifted comfortably by two female members of our staff.
(We have strong male volunteers, but unfortunately, sometimes our ladies need to lift and carry garage sale goods without their help.)
Our policy is that we cannot accept:
- tall wardrobes and cupboards
- heavy furniture (including heavy settees and chairs)
- large freezers or fridges or other whiteware
- stoves
- water beds
- double/queen beds
- single beds and mattresses in poor condition
- dirty clothes, bedding or linen
- things that are obviously dirty and broken
- very old electrical appliances
- fire arms, large knives, weapons of any kind (includes machetes and ceremonial weapons)
- paint, chemicals, gas bottles, petrol cans etc.
- demolition material
- heavy exercise equipment
- large mirrors, large glass items, glass table tops
- items that nobody would buy and that would cost us to dispose of
Thank you for your support and understanding.
